Pros – 4FRNT EHP Review

The ski is designed by pro skier Eric Hjorleifson for big moutain and backcountry skiing. It’s exactly in those terrains it will absolutely rule. With zero camber, gradual tip rocker and a flat tail, this ski floats beautifully yet allows for a very aggressive forward stance. Eric: ” I designed the EHP with a goal to create a ski that utilizes the concept behind reverse camber/sidecut skis but still incorporates traditional ski design to provide a versatile, stable platform in all types of snow. The long gradual tip/tail shape gives the ski great floatation in powder and enables you to wash, plane, and scrub your turns creating a surf like sensation. The long tip/tail shape also gives the EHP a shorter turning surface, making them more responsive and easier to turn on hardpack. The tail shape was designed to maximize performance in pow. The pintail shape sinks into the snow allowing a more forward mounting position giving the ski a much more responsive, centered, and balanced feel.

The EHP’s are the most versatile and fun ski I have ever used. They surf the powder, are very stable at high speeds and you can throw them sideways in the pow and totally scrub your speed without actually making a turn. Yet when you get to the end of your pow stash and hit firm snow the EHP handles it no problem. I could not believe how responsive they were on hard pack the first time I skied them especially since I designed them primarily to surf the pow.”

Cons – 4FRNT EHP 2012 Review

4FRNT EHP has a 40m radius and that will trouble you at high speeds. Carving it up on the EHP? It’s not a carver for sure :)

Manufacturers Description – 4FRNT EHP

4FRNT EHP 2012: With 18 revisions in its 5 years on the market, the 4FRNT EHP have been the 4FRNT staple as a big mountain and powder ski as well as a bestseller from year to year. Eric Hjorleifson ultimately tried to find the perfect blend between traditional and new reverse camber/sidecut designs to create versatility in his EHP – a result that has yielded a ski that delivers amazing float and speed in soft snow, but is agile around the resort. An all around denser core allows for a stable platform in every type of snow, allowing for all mountain dominance.
